Brought London to the groomers today and got to hang around for a bit.
Had a lot of fun and London wasn't nearly as bad as I thought she was, I really think I am getting the whole grooming thing.

He also gave me some of his old equipment.
Gave me an older table and a older velocity dryer (does need a new hose).

Had quite a bit of fun and he was pretty fun to hang out with.
He thinks I would have a better time going to petsmart and doing that for the duration of my contract so that I can get training + a job right after. So I might have to look more into that.

My first two days at my new job...

We're hilarious and really fun. I really love this job, even if I don't feed my dogs the food I am advertising. Lets just say, it's not exactly the greatest foods. This job is at petsomething as a food rep by the way.

First day
- Managers had a dog food fight (bag ripped open so their idea was to throw it at each other then clean it up LOL)
- Managers were also locking each other in the bathroom with a shelf.
- Had managers joking around and teasing me for getting paid to stand and talk to people (which is awesome!)
- Also cute malamute/husky puppy!

I also had a real crazy who made me (a food rep, not a petsomething employee) help her find everything for her new puppy. She was horrible... Talking to me like I was an idiot, making me check the weight of all the bowls, everything... It was so stupid it was funny.

Second day
- Other brand dog food reps, who were really friendly and awesome. (Made the time fly by since we talked most of the shift).
- GSD puppy, adorable!
- Got to talk to my reps a lot of the day, and had a few customers hang out with us and just talk.
- Laughed my ass off when the horrible woman came in again today to return the bowls I spent over 10 minutes with her picking them out. She was also here for more supplies - I refused to help her today, not after the 25 minutes of hell she put me through when I am not even an employee...
- The owners of the GSD puppy requested my help instead of an actual employee because I was more knowledgeable about GSDs, I did apologize to the sales associate later on since I didn't mean for that to happen LOL.
- The customers were awesome today too, all in such a good mood (I assume because it's Friday).

Anyways this job is awesome, also 15 dollars an hour is pretty awesome to just stand and talk to people while handing out coupons. Also all the managers love, love, love me... Which is great, even one of the reps said "This is your second day and all the managers are already joking around with you? What the hell, that is weird. They still don't talk to me much and I have been here since November!"

I might apply to the grooming section after school, since I am hoping I would have a easier time getting in if the managers continue to joke around with me.

Dang Fed-ex.

Well I am waiting for a package to be delivered to my house right now, because I need it before I can start working. It's a coupon book and brochures for me to hand out when I talk about food and welllllll I don't have it yet and my shift is in two hours...

So I might not be able to work this weekend, which is too bad since I could have made 180 dollars for 12 hours. But who knows if I don't get it I might be able to work Friday and Sunday still.

Poop.

EDIT:

As soon as I post this... Guess who called? LOL

Won't be getting London groomed until next Tuesday (31st), but I do get to watch the groomer groom the other dogs all day. Hopefully he lets me groom a lot of London and not just sit and watch - but we'll see how busy he is (since I don't want to put him behind schedule).

I am so impatient.
I really just want to start grooming and start going to school but I have to wait for a bit more money for school and equipment. School is 3k for 4 weeks and I am taking two courses - so it's going to be rather expensive (not to mention all my equipment...)

Haven't heard much about my job this weekend - I should be getting a package about the job and such since I start Thursday... Getting a little annoyed as I really like to plan things out and they're taking their time to mail me information or even return emails.

Well I will not be grooming London this weekend because London`s old groomer has offered to show me the ropes. I would much rather learn something then make a few bucks from my parents.
Also said I could come in the day and help and watch groom. He has also been great at giving some advice about some of my equipment. Quite a funny guy too, so it should be a fun day.

I DID get my trimmer (bellissima) today as well as the wahl snap on combs -only to find out they only fit on clippers - not trimmers... Either way I will need them for my clippers as well but now I want to get the ones for trimmers as well. :P

My parents also got me a few things I needed too.
- Slicker Brush
- Half fine Half medium comb
- and a carrying bag for all my tools, really cute with paw prints.

Overall I got a couple pieces out of the way, and am starting to get a small collection of tools.

My Life.

My name is Carley and I live in Ontario - to be more specific in Southern Ontario GTA region and I am 18 years old.

I love animals and have ever since I was a child. I have always known that I wanted to do something with animals. When I was a kid I wanted to be a vet more then anything, as I got older I have researched a few other careers.
I have looked into being a Vet tech, and I was also looking at what careers I could get with the Animal Care programs that was offered from my local college.
My dream job would have been working with the cheetahs at the zoo, but that was a little unrealistic so I kept looking...
There was a point in my life when I wanted to be a hairdresser as well, so I think the career that I am chosing to pursue is perfect... Pet Groomer!
I think this is perfect for me because it mixes both interests into one.

More about my life...

I have a German Shepherd named Jynx and she will be three this year. She is a great dog and I love her to death.
Here are some pictures of my big baby.

I also have a few other pets that I will include as well... I have a Holland Lop (Harley) and a Cat (Duckie) and a Pastel Ball Python (Jade).

I also have a great boyfriend who I have been with for almost three years. His name is Stephen. He's been great at helping me with school and helping me pursue my dreams.

This one was taken at a BSL protest.

And finally a few pictures of myself. I really love changing colours so you may see pictures of me througout my blogs with different hair and eye colour (contacts).

My first dog (BEFORE)

Posting some pictures of the dog I will be grooming this weekend, because I know I will most likely forget to take pictures of her before hand.

She is really in need of a groom and has some mats - so it will be a challenge for my first groom, but she will look so much better after.

She's my mom's dog but I just learned that her groomer never actually taught her how to brush the dog properly and that may have been the big problem on why she is always matted. I will teach her how to take care of the dog properly.

I am also getting paid what my mom regularly pays her regular groomer so I can save up some more money. So I will be getting 45 dollars for the groom!

BEFORE PICTURES OF LONDON. (Shih Tzu mix)

Getting my first tools.

Well I finally chose my trimmer that I am going to get. I know the similar American model has gotten great reviews and the Canadian model is really on sale right now. Reg 160 - 180 (depending where you get it)...

But I am getting it for...

-Drum roll-

95 dollars! It's funny the sale is only on a certain colour, the colour that is on sale is also the nicest looking colour.

It's a Wahl Bellissima.

I will also be picking up some Wahl stainless combs.

Once I get them I will test them out on my mom's dog.
It will be my first groom (without any training, just watched a few videos) so it may be pretty messy since I haven't joined my school yet but I will post some pictures!

Money for equipment!

I got a job to save up some money for all the grooming equipment that I need, woo!
I am working as a pet care rep at PetSomething and marketing different pet foods.

I only work 12 hours a week, but I am making 15 dollars an hour so in the end of the day 180 a week before taxes. I shouldn't get tons taken off from taxes either since it's only 12 hours a week.

I am happy though, this way I can get my 1000 dollar + worth of equipment... Not including the two books that are 250 each. Good thing my boyfriend is helping me out with some of those costs.

I should also get some back from my tax return but who knows how much I will get, hopefully I get quite a bit back because that would make me a very happy camper!

Grooming school is expensiiiiiiive!
